The Weippe Public Library is part of the Clearwater County Free Library District. It is located inside the Weippe Discovery Center.

Weippe Public Library is located in the mountains of central Idaho in the small community of Weippe. Weippe is known in history as the place where explorers Captains Lewis & Clark met the Nez Perce Indians.

Periodicals:

The Weippe Library subscribes to a variety of periodicals to meet the needs of area residents. Issues are kept for the only one-year. Magazines are available for check-out for three weeks. The local newspaper, the Clearwater Tribune, as well as the regional newspaper, Lewiston Tribune, are also available. Newspapers are only kept for two issues.

LENDING POLICIES

The use of the library and its services may be denied for due cause. Such cause may be failure to return books or pay penalties, destruction of library property, disturbance of patrons in the library, or any objectionable conduct on the library premises.

Library Cards:

Free Library cards are available to all residents or property owners in the Clearwater Co. Free Library District. The Weippe Public Library has a reciprocal borrowing agreement with the Pierce Public Library. Resident or property owners living in their district are also welcome to get a Free Library Card.

Fines & Fees:

  • Books & Periodicals: A $0.10 overdue fine per day per item is incurred, with a 24-hour grace period. A maximum fine of $20.00, plus replacement cost per item, is incurred if the material is not returned.
  • Videos & DVDs: A $1.00 overdue fine per day per item is incurred, with a 24-hour grace period. When a video/DVD is two weeks overdue, the patron is contacted by phone in the same manner as overdue books. A maximum fine of $20.00, plus replacement cost per item, is incurred if the material is not returned.

Renewals:
Materials may be renewed three (3) times if there is no request on record. Magazines and DVDs cannot be renewed. Renewals may be performed by phone, online or in person.
